Our special half-day guided tour will begin with a visit of the lush botanical Majorelle Gardens, which are privately owned by Yves St. Laurent fondation. Here we stop for a stroll. Afterwards we drive to the old medina of Marrakech and begin with a walk through one of the most interesting quarters of Marrakech. Here we'll stroll along labyrinthine alleyways, catching glimpses of mosques, hammams, traditional public bakeries, fondouks (old lodging houses used by the caravans). We will visit the principle attractions, beginning with the 14th century Ben Youssef Medrassa which used to be a koranic school and is noted for its extraordinary latticework interior decor and the nearby 19th century Menebhi palace, owned by a Moroccan vizier and built in the pure Moroccan urban style of architecture of the period. We continue on foot through the colorful souks which are organized according to goods sold and where craftsmen can be seen practicing their traditional handwork. After a stroll through this maze of narrow streets, we emerge onto the famous Jemaa el Fna Square, where throughout the ages local people and African caravans have gathered for entertainment, celebrations, gossip and business.
After lunch, enjoy a 2 hours quad biking or 1 hour Camel ride around the palm grove of Marrakech, including a stop at a local home for tea. It is a fabulous way to see the countryside.
Overnight at the hotel.
