Ait Benhaddou: a magnificent site and classified among the 8 World Heritage Sites of Morocco by UNESCO located on the perimeter of the Sahara desert and well preserved. Meeting at 8:00 am for the start of the trip. The first glimpse will be camouflaged in nature, Berber villages perched in the mountains, surprising isn’t it? Knowing that the villagers are doing very well thanks to agriculture and livestock. From time to time, they will sell a sheep or goat at the weekly market in order to buy tea, sugar and clothes. Continuing the road, you will cross the Tizi n Tichka pass (2160m) of the High Atlas and then reach the ancient village of Ait Benhaddou. The name ‘Ksar’ is often used and so you will hear it repeatedly, Ksar can mean: A large and luxurious palace, or as is the case here in Ksar Ait Benhaddou a set of Kasbahs usually surrounded by a protective wall. Formerly, the village served as a station for caravans transporting gold, silver, salt, spices and slaves from the depths of the African Sahara through Morocco and to Europe.
