This full day excursion starts by driving through the fertile countryside of the Haouz Plain. We drive up and across the High Atlas Mountains over Tizi N' Tichka Pass (6,600 feet) with spectacular scenic views of mountains and semi-desert terrain topped by kasbahs and adobe homes. On the other side of the mountain pass, a striking contrast of red clay villages and greenery leads us to the beautiful city of Ouarzazate, a city with typical kasbah-style architecture which, with so many films regularly being made here, has become a little Hollywood. In Ouarzazate, we have time for lunch and a visit of the 17th century Taourirt Kasbah, the former residence of the PachaGlaoui. Private excursions may also arrange to stop at Ait Ben Haddou, located nearby Ouarzazate. This wonderful 11th century Kasbah has been declared by UNESCO to be an historical treasure. This trip is highly recommended for its scenery.
