A half-day guided museum tour begins inside the Kasbah where we will visit Dar Si Said Museum of Moroccan Arts, a small 19th century palace which houses an interesting collection of old weapons and furniture. We’ll also stop to visit the nearby MaisonTiskiwin, a charming little museum of art and popular traditions from the southern areas of Morocco, displayed in the municipal theatre. This museum is known for its collection of Bert Flint costumes, musical instruments, carpets and artefacts. Next we’ll look at the beautiful architecture of the 14th century Ben Youssef Medersa which used to be a Coranic school. Finally, we’ll stop next door at the Private Museum in PalaisMenebhi, a turn of the century palace of a Moroccan vizier which was restored and sponsored by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York with a one million dollar donation. Here we can see the interior of a turn of the century palace, including the hammam, a small collection of Moroccan arts, and changing temporary displays of modern Moroccan art collections.
